Maryann has lived in the US for 23 years, and has worked hard to help the local Muslim community learn how to take advantage of the many opportunities offered here.
Silks for Sisters
Maryann told Rosemary Morgan that “Muslim women would be touched by the gesture,” although she failed to mention that they would never allow themselves to be ‘touched’ by the silk scarves.
Silk is expressly forbidden to touch or wear by Muslims, and is considered to be as najis or unclean as pork, blood, or kafirs (infidels).
Muslims are also strictly forbidden from even coming into contact with something that has been used by a kafir.

Contributions by other mosque members
Parvin Niroomand – In May 2009, Niroomand drove her car across the center line and killed a kafir on a bicycle, shattering her skull and leaving her bleeding in the road, but Niroomand said she thought the noise and her shattered windshield were because she had struck a tree.
Dr. Hazratji – “The real issue has been bias, bigotry, and lack of understanding, This is not something we’d expect in the town of Amherst.”
