Just a year ago, a cute little toy pig was “dusted for fingerprints and investigated as a possible hate crime,” because Muslims feared and hated pigs so much.
But now, as we approach the 10th anniversary of America’s introduction to Al’lah, Islamic Society of Western Massachusetts’ leaders Dr. Bajwa and Dr. Hazratji have planned an “Eid” celebration to show how far Muslims have come in accepting our icons and becoming a contributing part of our society.

In 2010, the end of Ramadan coincided with the 9/11 anniversary, so Muslims around the world were able to combine their celebrations.
This year the ISWM has decided to celebrate early by joining Porky Pig and his other “Jahiliyyah” cartoon friends at Six Flags for a Eid Carnival.

The ISWM has coordinated their Six Flags celebrations with other Muslim groups throughout the US, who are also celebrating this important holiday with all the respect and etiquette we have come to expect from our Muslim neighbors.
