MOHAMMED SYED ALI HAZRATJI, MD is Chief of Neurology at Holyoke Medical Center, and has been a practicing neurologist in the Pioneer Valley for the last 28 years. He is president of the Hampshire Mosque in Amherst, and was president of the Islamic Society of Western Massachusetts from 1990-2007.
Dr. Hazratji, president of Hampshire mosque, lives in Somers, CT with his wife, Azra. His children Yousef, Nabeel, and Zehra have all recently earned college degrees and, like their father, are serving our community if various ways. Dr. Hazratji still visits Amherst frequently to teach Muslim students about “real Islamic etiquette.”
Dr. Hazratji enjoys hunting, archery, and target practice as hobbies.
MOHAMMAD SALEEM BAJWA, MD is Executive Director of the Islamic Council of New England. Dr. Bajwa specializes in internal and pulmonary medicine. He is a founding member, trustee and the treasurer of the Islamic Society of Western Massachusetts and a past president and Chairman of the Board of Regents of the Islamic Medical Association of North America. Dr. Bajwa has his graduate education from King Edward Medical College in Pakistan.
KIMAL-GUL KHATAK, MD is the president of the New England Chapter of the Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America (APPNA)
Dr. Khatak is a graduate of Sind Medical College, University Of Karachi in 1962.
MUHAMMAD SHAKEEL AWAISI, MD reportedly practices Anesthesiology in Amherst and practices internal medicine and orthopedic surgery in Springfield, Massachusetts. His wife, Adina Adnan, lives in Amherst where his son, Hassan, has been active in the local ‘peace movement’ along with Hampshire mosque’s former Chaplain Mohammed Abdulaal.
