We were contacted in November 2010 by Josh Tecu, who is conducting interviews for an article about Dr. Hazratji and the Hampshire mosque. Josh would like to hear from any and all “residents of Massachusetts who aren’t 100% pleased about Islamic immigration or the presence of a mosque in their community.”
Who Are You?
“Who are you?” Age, race, gender, how-long-resident, education, profession, group affiliation?
Josh seems particularly interested in finding out about such people. He and Dr. Hazratji may also like to know more about your loved ones, their ages, schools, etc.
Death Threat from supporter of Joan Lindeman’s ION group
We don’t have any target property right now that appeals to us. – Dr. Hazratji
The community has not heard from Dr. Hazratji since he told the Amherst and Pelham residents what bigots and racists they were last June, so Josh may still be conducting interviews and can be reached at joshtecu@yahoo.com.
Perhaps Josh would be kind enough to share his interview notes with Nick Grabbe or other local reporters who could update the community on the progress of Dr. Hazratji’s struggle.
Request for Interviews from Josh Tecu – 11/12/2010
I stumbled on your site while doing research for an article on the Hampshire mosque and issues around Muslims in America in general. I’m interested in getting a broad spectrum of opinion. The problem is that while the Muslims I’ve contacted are happy to talk, I’m having trouble getting anyone else to speak up, specifically residents of Massachusetts who aren’t 100% pleased about Islamic immigration or the presence of a mosque in their community. I appreciate that your site is, however quietly, voicing opposition and is obviously very well researched. I’m interested in getting your take in an interview. I have no wish to “out” you and I will be happy to respect your privacy and maintain your anonymity. (I note your name does not appear anywhere on the site nor did you post a way to contact you.) The interview can be done by phone, email or in person, as you wish. Please contact me via the email above.

I suppose my goal is primarily a journalistic one. I think there’s a story here that needs to be explored and isn’t getting the attention it deserves. Your site is, as I see it, on ongoing research project. Your research leads you to see a clear and present danger to the United States. I think you would agree that’s an important story, correct?
Before the first round of questions, ground rules: How much exactly do you want to reveal about yourself? I would like to get this out of the way before we stumble over it again and again in questions. From reading your site I can guess that you’re a resident of Massachusetts, but that’s about it. I don’t know your age or gender, or even if you’re a plural. I will respect all the barriers you wish to keep up, but let’s first determine what those are so I can respect them. So the first question would be: “Who are you?” Age, race, gender, how-long-resident, education, profession, group affiliation, etc. Answer only what you feel comfortable, but with nothing I’ll have to quote you as “anonymous sources/bloggers say…” which lacks a certain punch.
Second question: The site itself: It has no mission statement. It doesn’t declare it’s intent in any way except the content itself and even the title is pretty neutral so that it takes some time to figure out. (Hence me “stumbling over it”.) You’re writing style is pretty restrained, presenting evidence with little or no commentary. That can be admirable, but it leaves questions about your own passion and beliefs about the issue. If you wanted my goal for the interview in a nutshell, that would be it: your passion and beliefs.
I just want to add one thing: As part of this article on the Hampshire mosque I am interviewing people like Mohammed ali Hazratji. His name is out there, he’s happy acting as a spokesman and, as such, his opinions are going to be usable. I’m writing about a debate where one side—you’re not the only person I’ve contacted—is refusing to go on record and speak, even anonymously. By choosing not to participate, your side of the of issue is going to be silent. Silence suggest acquiescence. I don’t believe you want that.
