Muslim Students Association holds ‘vigil for peace’ to remember martyrs of Paris jihad

WHICH VICTIMS?

Unfortunately, muslims are strictly forbidden from praying for Kufar, even their own parents.

Can a muslim pray for his non-muslim father?

Praise be to Allaah. Allaah says in His Book

“It is not (proper) for the Prophet and Muslims to ask Allaah’s forgiveness for the kuffaar, even though they be of kin, after it has become clear to them that they are the dwellers of the Fire ” [al-Tawbah 9:113]

Al-Qurtubi said in al-Ahkaam (8/173): “This aayah means that one should cut off ties of close friendship with the kuffaar, whether they are alive or dead.

Allaah did not allow the believers to pray for forgiveness for non-Muslims. Seeking forgiveness for a kufaar is something that is not permitted.”

Al’lah prohibited Mohammad from praying for his dead mother.

Muslim narrated in his Saheeh (916) from Abu Hurayrah  that the Mohammad said: “I asked Al’lah for permission to pray for forgiveness for my mother, and He did not permit me. I asked Him for permission to visit her grave, and He granted me permission.”

Roughly 80 people gathered at the University of Massachusetts Friday night for a “vigil for peace” organized by the MSA and SJP in honor of the martyrs slain in Paris, Beirut and Nigeria last week.

Because Muslims are forbidden from offering prayers on behalf of Kufars, they offered prayers that Al’lah might receive the other victims into paradise for their martyrdom.

Identification

Three teams, comprising three people each, executed the attacks.[20][44] They wore explosive vests and belts with identical detonators.[110] Seven perpetrators died at the scenes of their attacks.[3][111]

Three suicide bombers blew themselves up near the Stade de France:

  • Bilal Hadfi, a 20-year-old French citizen who had been living in Belgium.[112] Hadifi attempted to enter the Stade de France but blew himself up nearby after being denied entry.[112] He fought with ISIL in Syria for more than a year and was a supporter of the Nigerian extremist group Boko Haram.[113] In the months before the attacks, he was active on social media, posting pro-jihadist messages, and communicated with a Libyan branch of ISIL.[114] Belgian prosecutors knew Hadfi had gone to fight in Syria but did not know of his return to the EU.[112]
  • M. al-Mahmod, who had entered the EU with Syrian refugees via the Greek island of Leros on 3 October.[115]
  • The final bomber carried a passport belonging to a 25-year-old Syrian named Ahmad al-Mohammad.[112][113] A passport-holder claiming to be a Syrian refugee with that name was registered on Leros in October upon his arrival from Turkey.[116] The dead attacker’s fingerprints matched those taken at the registration on Leros.[112][117][118][119][120] French officials concluded that “Ahmad al-Mohammad” is probably a dead Syrian soldier whose passport was stolen after he was killed in Syria.[121][122]

Three men carried out the shootings at bars and restaurants in Paris:

  • Brahim Abdeslam, a 31-year-old French member of the Molenbeek terror cell living in Belgium, carried out shootings in the 10th and 11th arrondissements. Shortly afterwards, he blew himself up at the Comptoir Voltaire restaurant on the boulevard Voltaire.[12][112][113][123][124]
  • An attacker suspected to be Abdelhamid Abaaoud.[112]
  • An unidentified suspect.[112]

Three other men attacked the Bataclan theatre using AKMs and took hostages.[12] Two blew themselves up when police raided the theatre. The third was hit by police gunfire and his vest blew up when he fell.[12] According to French police, they were:

  • Samy Amimour, a 28-year-old from Paris who fought in Yemen and was known to the intelligence services,[112][125] had reportedly been on the run from police since 2012 due to being wanted over terrorism related charges.[126]
  • Omar Ismail Mostefai, a 29-year-old from the Paris suburb of Courcouronnes,[112] travelled to Syria in 2013 and may have spent time in Algeria.[127] In 2010, the French authorities put Mostefai on a database of suspected Islamic radicals.[112] He was identified by a severed finger found inside the Bataclan.[113][128]
  • Foued Mohamed-Aggad, a 23-year-old from Strasbourg who travelled to Syria in 2013.[112][129]

Abdifatah Omar, MSA president, concluded the vigil by sharing a letter from the clergy at the Newman Center who offered allegiance and solidarity with faithful followers of Mohammad around the world. Omar held the letter in the air and said that such actions of extension and compassion are what students need to hear.

After the ceremony Omar and Anwan explained that first and foremost the vigil was to honor the Muslim victims of the attacks.

“This was an opportunity for us to show ourselves,” he said. “Students on this campus aren’t really exposed to Islam, we want to make them feel just as save and loved as if they were in Saudi Arabia, Syria, Pakistan, Yemen, Iraq, or Iran.

The MSA member all fully support Dr. Hazratji, former President of Hampshire mosque, who urged the UMass MSA students to violence, bloodshed, and warfare.

According the the MSA, “the only Muslim students who got caught following his instructions were the Boston Marathon martyrs,  and there has still not been any evidence linking members of the Hampshire mosque or UMass MSA to the Quabbin break-in.
