The Hampshire Charter School of Science has opened in Chicopee to help teach science and traditional Turkish Islamic values to young children. Harun and Dilyara Celik, working closely with other devotees under the instructions of their Sufi guru, Fethullah Gulen,  decided to take advantage of financial opportunities and tax benefits offered by the state and start the Hampden Charter School of Science to help highlight Turkish culture and reestablish Turkey as a world power for peace and Islam.

November 19, 2009 – CHICOPEE – It is the Turkish language classthat made J.A. really like her new school.

The Turk at Work – In less than two generations Islam has helped the Turks evolve from bestial Muslim murderers and rapists into solicitous teachers.

“It is really, really fun and it has to do with my career,” the 12-year-old Springfield student said.  J.A. hasn’t yet studied the Turkish Armenian genocides, the Turkish incineration of Smyrna’s 100,000 Christians in 1922, or the Ottoman empire’s relentless and ongoing jihad yet, but she already loves everything about Turkey and Islam.

“I’m going to teach English in Turkey or be an actress, but I will probably do the first one.”

J.A., a seventh-grader, is one of 200 students from Springfield, Chicopee, Ludlow and West Springfield at the school. They are the first to attend the new Hampden Charter School of Science on Johnson Road that opened this fall.

The school, which now has grades six through nine, will add one grade every year until it reaches 12th grade and has 350 students, said Harun Celik, school director.

Organizers have been deliberate about their first year. Since the taxpayers were footing much of the bill, they were able to create lucrative positions for many other Gulen disciples as teachers, trustees, and “researchers.”  Before school opened, staff also visited each students’ family to be sure they met their strict Islamic criteria.

While the school has science in its title, Celik said it is not a place where students are constantly looking through microscopes. The school now has some electives, including Spanish and Turkish classes, and will add more soon.

“Teach your Children Well” – Although some islamophobes refer to Fetuhlah Gulen as “one of the most dangerous Islamists in the world”, others see him as a great Sufi teacher, whose followers are taught to always emulate the behavior of the perfect man, Mohammad.

The Perfect Man? – Fethullah Gulen strives to imitate Mohammad in all ways.

In 1999, Turkish television aired footage of Gülen delivering sermons to a crowd of followers in which he revealed his aspirations for an Islamist Turkey ruled by sharia (Islamic law) as well as the methods that should be used to attain that goal. In the sermons, he said:

You must move in the arteries of the system without anyone noticing your existence until you reach all the power centers … until the conditions are ripe, they [the followers] must continue like this.

If they do something prematurely, the world will crush our heads, and Muslims will suffer everywhere, like in the tragedies in Algeria, like in 1982 [in] Syria … like in the yearly disasters and tragedies in Egypt. The time is not yet right.

You must wait for the time when you are complete and conditions are ripe, until we can shoulder the entire world and carry it … You must wait until such time as you have gotten all the state power, until you have brought to your side all the power of the constitutional institutions in Turkey …

Until that time, any step taken would be too early—like breaking an egg without waiting the full forty days for it to hatch. It would be like killing the chick inside. The work to be done is [in] confronting the world.

Now, I have expressed my feelings and thoughts to you all—in confidence … trusting your loyalty and secrecy. I know that when you leave here—[just] as you discard your empty juice boxes, you must discard the thoughts and the feelings that I expressed here.

The Hellenic (Greek) Genocide was the systematic torture, massacre and ethnic cleansing of several million Hellenes (Greeks) perpetrated by the Turks in Asia Minor, Constantinople (now called Istanbul by the Turks), Eastern Thrace, Imvros, Tenedos, Macedonia, Cappadocia and Pontos.

Most of the victims were massacred between 1895 and 1955. The present estimate is that some 2,000,000 Greek children, men and women of all ages were killed during that period.

The Hellenic Genocide is commemorated on May 19 and September 14.
